Jack Doherty is no longer allowed to post on social media after signing a contract with the gambling site Shuffle.com without reading it, according to posts circulating online. The streamer says a clause in the deal bars him from posting, and Shuffle's co-founder has publicly said the term is real.

What happened

Doherty told followers on Oct. 10 that he signed the sponsorship agreement without fully reading it and that one term forbids him from posting on social media. He reportedly thought the clause was a joke.

Shuffle co-founder Noah Dummett then replied publicly: "For everyone asking: yes it's real. 6 month term. Money well spent to get this mf off the internet." He added that Doherty's lawyers are now pressing the company hard to scrap the contract but that Shuffle "will stay strong." Shuffle has not said how much it paid for the deal, and neither side has shared the contract itself.

What the internet is saying

Dummett's post drew more than 16 million views, and reaction has split quickly. Many users are asking whether the story is real, and a large share think it is a marketing stunt, with posts calling it "the most obvious ad campaign" and "the cheapest ad buy of the year" because the whole internet is now posting about Shuffle on Doherty's behalf. Others are treating it as a warning about signing sponsorship deals unread, and jokes about Doherty being "sealed" have spread across the timeline. Some users say the whole thing "seems off." None of that is confirmed, and the claims in the posts are unverified.

What's next

Doherty's lawyers are reportedly trying to get the contract thrown out while Shuffle says it plans to enforce the six-month term. IRLScene will update this story if either side shares more.
